About Agatha

About Agatha
I worked as a teacher in Boston for many years before deciding to become a language assistant. I graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor's in psychology. I love communicating with people of all ages, making lessons engaging, and helping people achieve their goals.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
I have enjoyed teaching for as long as I can remember, even going back to high school and college. I interned in three separate schools during that time. Upon graduation, I worked as an instructional math specialist, before working as a special educator in a classroom for students with disabilities. Last year, I became a resource room specialist, working with students in grades 5-7 in all academic subjects.

Work Experience
Ministry of education, Language Assistant
2019 - Present
I work in six classrooms of high school students who are native Spanish speakers. The students are a variety of levels and ages, so I often plan for many different lessons. I help them learn English, with an emphasis on reading comprehension, speaking, and listening.
Bridge Boston Charter School, Middle School Special Education Teacher
2018 - 2019
I worked with students in grades 5-7. I attended a Wilson Reading System course. I built on my teaching repertoire as I learned how to implement new curriculums, including EngageNY and Fountas and Pinell.
Boston Public Schools, Therapeutic Learning Community Paraprofessional.
2015 - 2017
I worked in classrooms for students in kindergarten- fifth grade. I assisted teachers with preparing lessons, instructing students, and managing behaviors. I taught a lot of small group lessons, and my students achieved high scores on many standardized tests- once, they got a perfect score in 4 common core state standards on an Achievement Network assessment.
Boston Public Schools, Math Instructional Specialist
2014 - 2015
I worked with small groups of fourth-grade students. All students began the year below grade level, but with consistent lessons, they were almost all at grade level by the end of the year. This is the year, I truly learned how to deliver high-quality instruction.
