Subject: Writing

Question:

How would you go about writing a persuasive argument for a group of people you know very little about? (For example, writing to conservative east Asians as a white liberal from Europe)

Answer:

The most important aspect of any type of persuasive writing is research. Research doesn't just inform your argument, it informs HOW you should be writing your argument. If you are writing for a lesser known audience to yourself, research that audience. You will never win an argument if you look incompetent about the people to whom you are writing.

How do you measure out your study time from when you find out about the test to when it is time to take the test?

Answer:

I asked this question because it is important for students who are learning study skills to track out the information in a timely manner and that "cramming" is incredible counter productive to actually remembering information

Question:

In the play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth plays a huge role in the many things that occur. Considering Lady Macbeth's position as a women in a man's world can you sympathize with her desire to rise through the ranks by her own will and desire?

Answer:

There is something to be said about Lady Macbeth's desire and then retreat into her own ambitions. While I wouldn't agree with or condone her behavior I can understand her desire to stand in a position that gives her power, when conventionally she is continuously lost without it. Lady Macbeth's descent into madness shows her remorse and her subsequent suicide shows her inability to move past that. Contrasted with Macbeth's continual push to power until he eventually is murdered.
