About Apoorva
I am a meticulous educator, always eager to learn, and have new experiences. A recent masters graduate of French Linguistics, I completed my undergraduate training in Business Administration, French, and psychology. I enjoy reading analytical texts, peer-reviewed research publications, and the news. I love cooking, exploring new cities, and anything that is dog-related.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
I have served in multiple teaching and tutoring positions throughout my undergraduate career, and most recently, I served as an Associate Instructor of French for the Department of French and Italian. At IU, I have acquired considerable classroom experience by teaching courses ranging from first-semester French (F100) to second year French: Language and Culture (F200). Prior to teaching in a classroom, I was a tutor of multiple disciplines: psychology, mathematics, English writing, reading skills, and French. I tutored over 100 students and...

Work Experience

Work Experience
Indiana University-Bloomington, Associate Instructor (French)
2017 - 2019
As an Associate Instructor for the Department of French and Italian, I taught 3 courses per academic year ranging from F100-F200. The courses were language-based that involved grading, holding office hours, and disseminating cultural information. A large component of being an AI was staying up-to-date on language pedagogy and cultural events.
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Supplemental Instruction Leader Mentor
2016 - 2017
I planned and led training for incoming and returning leaders for Fall 2016. I provided feedback for new leaders as they transitioned into their new role. Each week, I chose plans of the week for leader meetings.
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Writing Lab Consultant
2016 - 2017
I helped students with their writing and various assignments. As the only French language tutor, I helped students with their French writing work as well. My task was to aid learners in a way that they could become self-sufficient after a few weeks. Based on the learner and their learning styles, I adapted my approaches and tailored our joint learning goals.
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Teaching Assistant of Psychology
2016 - 2017
I led Reading In the Disciplines of Psychology which was a one-credit, pass/fail discussion course attached to a parent-course, designed specifically to help learners develop their abilities to deal successfully with the readings and lecture material in that parent-course. Collaboration was the key to successful Reading In the Disciplines group work. Groups met once a week with other fellow students and me, the trained undergraduate peer facilitator, to go over class readings and lecture material.
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Supplemental Instructor
2014 - 2017
As an SI leader for Math 109 (highest enrolled math course at UWSP), I was responsible for leading activities and discussion rather than for re-teaching the material. I sat in on class lectures, planned and led two group sessions per week, attended meetings and training, and reminded the class about SI sessions on a regular basis. I also held one office hour per week. My goal as an SI leader was to foster student-to-student conversation and collaboration; the primary objective of my role was not to answer all questions, but to serve as a...
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Fast-Track Math Tutor
2016 - 2016
As a Fast-Track Tutor, I developed and coordinated the week-long mathematics camp for incoming undergraduates. Students who wished to improve their mathematics placement test results to enroll in fewer math courses while at the university were chosen to be a part of this pilot program. We participated in a range of activities while at the camp, from instruction to testing to life skills and preparing the incoming students for their collegiate career at UW-Stevens Point.
