Let's write a formula to represent this story. So we know on Wednesday he made 100 cookies, so on one side of the = sign is 100. On the other side we have t (Tuesday) and t+2 (Monday). And we know we need to combine them, and then double that number. So (t+t+2) x 2 = 100. Now we solve for t. (2t+2) x 2 = 100 4t + 4 = 100 4t = 96 t = 24 So he made 24 cookies on Tuesday. 24+2 is 26. 26 cookies on Monday.
