This, among other acts from the government, eventually lead to the uprising of the 3rd estate.

The Union was becoming more industrialized in the antebellum years. This allowed them to quickly and effectively manufacture munitions as well and create more railways. The Confederacy, on the other hand, was still focusing on their agriculture, selling foodstuffs to them buy munitions to fund the war effort. As the war progressed, the northern industrial economy proved to be more sustainable form of funding a war
