What are the three main types of rock and how are they formed?
Metamorphic rocks are formed when sediment and other rocks are compressed ad heated over a long period of time and clumps together. Igneous rocks are formed when old rock is melted down. This molten rock then cools and formed new rock. Sedimentary rocks are formed when sediment (sand, dirt, and rock pieces) get placed under a lot of pressure over a period of time and get stuck together.

Why are some fertilizers bad for the environment?
Fertilizers contain nutrients to help plants grow. When too many fertilizers get washed into water, like a lake or the ocean, they make the algae there grow too. The algae and plankton feed on the nutrients and keep reproducing and growing until they crowd out other creatures. Then, when the algae and plankton die and settle to the bottom, bacteria eat them. When the bacteria eat them, they bacteria use up all the oxygen in the water so no other animals can live there.

What are tectonic plates?
The theory of tectonic plates is the idea earth's crust is broken into several pieces that house the continents and oceans. Imagine a cracked shell of a hard-boiled egg. The pieces of shell stuck to the egg can be thought of as these plates. As the plates shift and move around the surface of there earth, the continents do as well.
