Hi! I'm a tutor and freelance writer living in La Jolla, CA. I graduated from Yale in 2015, with distinction in the Cognitive Science major. That means I studied the human mind -- and I bring everything I've learned to my tutoring. I believe that learning can be deeply satisfying (yes, even learning for a standardized test).
I've been tutoring students for the past six years, both as a freelancer and with some companies (Revolution Prep, Bulldog Tutors). Most of my experience is in SAT/ACT tutoring, but I've also worked with everyone from ESL students and homeschoolers to philosophy grad students, on subjects ranging from trigonometry to thesis papers.
Freelance, Freelance Tutor (Tests and Subjects)
2015 - Present
As a freelancer, I've worked with students on the SAT, ACT, GRE, geometry, algebra, college admissions essays, and more.
Bulldog Tutors (New Haven, CT), SAT/ACT/Subject Tutor
2013 - 2015
Through Bulldog, I worked with a number of New Haven students on SAT/ACT prep, math, and reading comprehension. By the end of my tenure, I'd mastered the major college admissions tests: My last SAT student saw his score improve by nearly 400 points, and my last ACT student went from a 28 to a 33 on the test.
Yale University (Numerous Publications), Journalist and Editor
2011 - 2015
During my time at Yale, I was one of the school's most prolific writers. I wrote for seventeen publications during that time, and became an editor for both the nation's oldest college humor magazine (The Record) and for The Globalist, an international-affairs publication. Along the way, I helped dozens of Yale students improve their journalistic and creative writing skills.
Revolution Prep, SAT Tutor
2012 - 2012
I spent the summer teaching an SAT course to over two dozen students. After learning Revolution Prep's methods, I bought some other SAT books on my own, and worked those books' most effective strategies into my own unique program.
