Question:

How can you make a poster in Microsoft Publishing?

Inactive
Jessica E.
Answer:

Microsoft Publishing has many options for creating a poster from small to large size. You will first need to pick a size which is asked before you can create a document. Next you can add text, pictures, shapes and more to your poster. These functions work similar to Microsoft word. You can move these objects around with your curser until satisfied with layout. Once satisfied with layout click the print preview option to insure that no part of your poster will be cut out. Once completely satisfied print out poster.

Question:

What is the digital divide and what do libraries and librarians do to close that divide?

Answer:

The digital divide is a term coined for the difference between populations on their access, and knowledge on how to use technology such as computers, and the internet. Technology has advance so rapidly in the last decade. People are doing amazing things with their computer and smart phones, however there are people being left behind. The population is divided by income status and also age. People in lower income households are unable to access technology and use them to their advantage such as making resumes on Microsoft, or searching jobs to much more complex things like coding, while people in higher income households are able to access a wealth of resources easily. Libraries provide free wifi and technology such as computers, and tablets. However, providing this technology is not enough, librarians must show students and the public on how to use these technologies and access these resources. Librarians do this by providing classes, one on one sessions, and support in person and over the phone. Librarians must continued to educate themselves on new resources and technologies to better help their students. Librarians must work to close this digital divide everyday.
