Writing
TutorMe
Question:

How will improving my writing help me in the "real world"?

Rachel R.
Answer:

Writing is a skill which helps in every field of study and in every line of work. Whether it's writing research papers or crafting a professional e-mail, writing is an essential skill in our world today. Most people tend to assume that writing is a strictly creative pursuit, but even writing in a creative capacity requires practice and improvement.

Study Skills
TutorMe
Question:

What is effective studying?

Rachel R.
Answer:

Effective studying is different for everybody. Depending on what an individual is interested in and depending on how their brain processes information, certain studying techniques will be more effective than others. From my own experience, I have found that study skills are like any other skills and you get better at them the more you practice them. I also feel it's important to acknowledge traditional ideas of what studying should look like and accept that those may not always be the best way to study.

Literature

Question:

Why is it important to study literature?

Rachel R.
Answer:

Literature, and the arts, are often products of an artist's reaction to their social and historical context. Studying literature helps us understand what ideas and concepts were important and how language can be a force of change in historical climates that aim to oppress the complexities of the human experience. Literature gives a voice to those who have often been silenced or ignored.
