About Clay

About Clay
I've taught Shakespeare through performance for 35 years, working with every age group from 3rd grade to adults in a continuing education course. My focus is usually on learning through performance, grounded in a deep dive into the language and theatricality.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
I've directed a Shakespeare-in-the-schools program for students in grades 3-8 for 17 years; prior to that, I taught in public elementary schools for four years (grades 4 and 5) and worked in all-ages private schools for another two years. Before becoming certified to teach K-6 I led grant-funded Shakespeare artist-in-residency programs at elementary and middle schools in Texas and the Pacific Northwest.
