Question:

What should an introduction include in a formal essay?

Inactive

Answer:

An introduction should introduce the topic not the subject, lead up to the thesis, integrate a quotation (if one is to be used), not use "I" or personal pronouns, contain the thesis as the last line of the introduction, and an attention grabber works only if it is integrated and appropriate to the thesis.

Question:

What is Shakespeare so revered and studied in the western world?

Answer:

Although Christopher Marlowe predates Shakespeare in a minute manner, Shakespeare is the first to really prolifically present a study of the character of a human being. His plays present an exploration of the common experience of life. Prior to the Renaissance in England, morality plays were the popular entertainment, Shakespeare narrowed the focus and provided an intimate and honest presentation of the events in life that create who people become.

Question:

Why does the English language follow the rules of Romance languages when it is actually Germanic in origin?

Answer:

Part of the reason that English does not follow the rules of most Germanic languages lies in the popular writing of the rules set down by Samuel Taylor Coleridge during the early 1800s in England. Another factor stems from the fact that even though England was often at war with France, in 1066 French was added to Anglo-Saxon English and, French being considered the language of nobility, the tradition stuck that English would follow the guidelines of the French language.
