Why is writing so important?
Writing is how we communicate the most in society. Over time, humans have moved from an oral to a predominately written linguistic structure, and because of this, the ability to write well has become crucial. When others read your writing, they gain an insight into who you are: your intelligence level, your personality, your opinions, your voice. Learning how to articulate who you are through written words is one of the most invaluable skills you can have - especially in today's society.
What is the most effective way to study for a test or an exam?
Psychologically proven, the best way to make your studying effective is to make it personal and make it weird. Our brains get tired of taking in dull information, so when we are able to make a vocabulary word relate to a family member it reminds us of or a an experience we've had, or when we can come up with a an unusual acronym for a set of information we have to memorize, the material stands out is much more easily recalled during test time.
Why is it significant to study literature?
The study of literature captures the human experience - that's why it's taught, and that's why it's important. Every time we pick up a novel or a short story or a poem, be it based on a true story or entirely fiction, we read a piece of what it means to be human and understand a little more about the world around us. Literature makes us see through a different lens, to think critically, and to use our imaginations.
