Question:

Multiplying with Fractions: What is 1/4 of a half?

Katelyn W.
Answer:

This problem can be solved by using visuals/graphs or simply by multiplication. I am going to solve this problem using multiplication. Therefore, the problem will look like this: 1/4 x 1/2 = When multiplying fractions make sure they are in simplest form. In this problem the fractions are already in simplest form. So, the only thing to do is multiply the numerators (the numbers on top). Which is 1 x 1 = 1. Then, multiply the denominators (the numbers on bottom). Which is 4 x 2 = 8. Last, rewrite the problem: 1/4 x 1/2 = 1/8.

Question:

Basic Algebra: Solve the following Equation: -6x + 30 = 36

Katelyn W.
Answer:

Use the following steps to solve the equation from above: -6x + 30 = 36 Step One: Subtract 30 from both sides. -6x + 30 - 30 = 36 - 30 (which equals 6) Therefore the equation now looks like this: -6x = 6 Step Two: Divide both sides by -6. -6x/-6 = 6/-6 (which equals -1 because any positive number divided by a negative number will equal a negative number). Therefore the solved equation now looks like this: x = -1
