Hi! My name is Makayla! I'm a certified English teacher with a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction! I have both tutoring and teaching experience. I've worked with kids from 7-18. I've also worked as an undergraduate writing consultant at my UT: Austin's Writing Center! I have 2.5 years of tutoring experience and 2 year teaching experience.

I've tutored at the University of Texas's Writing Center during my senior year of undergrad. I worked with undergraduate students, mostly incoming freshman from varying disciplines and skill levels. I have teaching experience from Austin ISD, I've interned in 2 ELA classrooms with ESL, SpEd, and Pre-Ap populations. I have additional tutoring experience from my time at Sylvan Learning - where I worked with kids on reading and writing.

I work with 7-8th grade students in mastering key reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills to assure their success for STAAR, in life, and in future education opportunities.

I tutor students in reading and writing. We also work on important study skills necessary for success in the classroom (like how to read carefully and identifying when to take notes). The kids I work with range from elementary to middle school.

I developed and implemented engaging ELA lessons for heterogenous group of SPED and on-level students. I collaborated with my CT and supervisor to create effective learning experiences for students of all abilities. I also assessed student writing through observation, multimodal tools, and resources.
