About Michelle

About Michelle
As a college sophomore, I took a course in the Education Department on a whim, and so began my interest in teaching. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I took a step outside of my comfort zone and moved to Japan to teach English as a foreign language at a public high school in Tokyo for two years. My desire to become a better educator motivated me to pursue a Master in Education in Language & Literacy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. A current budding interest of mine is digital game-based learning.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
My teaching experience began with volunteer work through the organization Stronger Communities, Stronger Schools during my undergraduate career. I served as an SAT prep tutor for underserved high school students who attended urban schools in the Boston area. In order to gain classroom teaching experience, I accepted a position to teach English as a foreign language at a public high school in Tokyo, Japan through the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program.
