Research and development of model tissue culture systems and organisms for the study of Hepatitis B Virus, in the hopes of testing better treatments for the chronic disease that the persistent viral infection causes. Techniques learned and practiced include tissue culturing, virus isolation and purification, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, gene cloning, DNA/RNA isolations, and polymerase chain reaction.
