My teacher is requiring me to cite my resources in APA formatting. Could you give me an example on how to write my resources in the above format.
To cite a book in APA format, start with the author's last name, and initials, followed by the year. The book title is written in sentence case (only capitalize the first word and any proper nouns). Here's a visual example: Last name, Initials. (Year). Book title. (Contributor initials, last name, role.) (Edition). City, State/Country: Publisher. Here's an example of a citation for Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises References Hemingway, E. (2006). The Sun Also Rises. Scribner. Purdue Online Writing Lab also has a APA citation guide, if you need to see more examples or to practice. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/using_research/citation_style_chart.html

How do I analyze a work of literature to answer the follow question for my American Literature assignment? How does Hemingway take his characters out of the ideal of traditional gender roles in his novel "The Sun Also Rises"?
The first step in answering this question would to be think about is how society defines traditional gender roles. Traditional gender roles usually see men as the decision makers and women as the person to take care of the house and have limited authority. What characters in the story fit the description I just mention. Take a further look at Lady Brett's character, specifically her dialogue. and physical appearance. Hemingway gives Lady Brett some masculinity to give her some empowerment, but it also symbolizes women being affected by patriarchy during the time the novel was written. Further review Lady Brett character and the definition of gender roles to further explore how Hemingway take his characters out of the ideal gender roles. How do you write a persuasive thesis statement for an essay based on a piece of literature?
To write an effective thesis statement, you need to think about the topic you will be discussing in your paper. For example, If you were analyzing a novel like Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye from a feminist perspective, your thesis statement would need to include the feminist theory you are using for your argument. Here's an example; By applying the feminism concepts of gender roles, power and oppression, and the historical and social interconnectivity of American literature, this project examines the language used around Pecola Breedlove to show how women were treated in the past and how they have shaped our culture today. The thesis statement I have written shows the concepts of the feminist theory I will be speaking about and how the story relates to it by mentioning the character I am focusing on. It's important to remember a thesis statement is concise and expresses the main idea of your paper. You are making a claim and you need to use evidence throughout your paper to support your claim.
