What is a transition, and when would you use it?
A transition or "transition word" is a word that connects one thought or idea to the next. You would use it when starting a new paragraph, or starting a conclusion paragraph.
What is "adaptation"?
Adaptation is the ability for a living organism to change or "adapt" to better live/fit with their environment.
Jane is trying to write a paper, and she is trying to figure out which form of "their, there or they're" fits with a particular sentence. "A little dog followed a group of kids while on *their, there, or they're* way to school.
The correct word for Jane's sentence would be "their", because it pertains to the entire group. "There" would be a location, so it would not work. "They're" is the compound form of "they are".
