Question:

Explain how and where the Respiratory and the Circulatory system of the human work together to maintain homeostasis.

Jennifer H.
Answer:

The Respiratory system is responsible for the exchange of gases. The circulatory system is responsible for circulating materials throughout the human body. These 2 systems work together to maintain a balance of internal conditions for the human organism. The site of gas exchange is the alveoli of the lungs. Surrounding each alveolus is a network of capillaries where the highly concentrated carbon dioxide moves by diffusion from the capillary and into the alveolus and the highly concentrated oxygen moves by diffusion from the alveolus and into the capillary. The circulatory's system of blood vessels will circulate the oxygen throughout the body and return carbon dioxide to be released.
