How is water connected around the world?
The hydrologic cycle is a great representation of the interconnectedness of our planet's water supply. Ground water evaporates into the atmosphere and drops down as precipitation. The idea of a finite water supply on Earth is something that most people don't think about. We tend to only think of water locally and treat it in the same way. If water saving or cleanliness standards are followed, the whole world actually benefits.

What does surface area have to do with chemistry?
Surface area is a physical property that shows up in a lot of different subjects. In math classes, surface area is taught as something that is calculated for different objects. In physics it can influence how objects move. Surface area in chemistry is an exciting topic that explains why certain bonds, and resulting compounds, are able to be formed. Surface area can help one understand why carbon is a good substance for filtration. Surface area can also be applied to chemical reactions and their speed.
How 'smart' are plants?
Plants are extraordinary living organisms that display a high level of intelligence. They can't help you solve an algebra question right away, but with the right tools and measurements you can learn about linear and logarithmic relationships. Plants continue to live and adapt to our ever-changing environment. They exploit areas where no other organisms can live. They aren't just smart, they are geniuses!
