Questions

Subject: Writing

TutorMe
Question:

How important are writing skills?

Inactive
Amani A.
Answer:

At its basic level, writing is a form of communication and having strong communication skills can make the difference between a letter grade in college and salary negotiations in your career! Even if you aren't planning to go into higher education or become a journalist, our dependency on written word is becoming more and more salient due to rapid advances in technology. Important conversations that used to be strictly reserved for phone calls are now happening over email, people are having full conversations through text, and firsts impressions to potential employers are resumes (i.e. a written description of yourself!). Writing skills are incredibly important and are expected in today's society and are therefore worth developing and strengthening.

Question:

What is the absolute best way to study?

Amani A.
Answer:

There really isn't one best way to study. Unfortunately, there is no 'one size fits all' method that can easily be taught. The best way to study is dependent on the individual and their strengths. The best way to identify your studying style is to figure out what type of learner you are and how you retain information. From there you can create habits that are grounded in your strengths and find a study method that works best for you!

Question:

What is psychology?

Answer:

Psychology is a commonly misunderstood study that has a rich history grounded in philosophy, research, and literature. It is commonly referred to as a 'soft' science because psychological constructs aren't considered to be as visible as physical sciences such as physics or chemistry. However, it uses the same research methods, scientific methods, and academic rigor that those sciences use. Psychology is the study of the mind/brain, of people, of behavior. It is an umbrella term for a variety of different sciences such as cognitive, behavioral, social, developmental, etc.
