Questions
Subject: Social Work
How do you describe social work to your peers and family?
I learned throughout the years that defining "social work" to those who are outside of this profession is extremely difficult. Social work is not a profession that people often pay attention to, but it should be. Social work goes beyond the definition of "helping others." It is a profession that requires genuine care and advocacy, but also empathy and vulnerability.
Subject: Writing
What would you say is your biggest strength and weakness when it comes to your writing?
My biggest strength is that I am able to have sentence structure and flow within my writing. I connect ideas together and have multiple rounds of edits before I finalize submission. As for my weakness, because I have so many ideas, I often have difficulties in taking parts of my essay out. This is something that I am continuously striving to improve, as I want to be detail-oriented, but also succinct and to the point.
Subject: Study Skills
What is your ideal study environment and what do you do if you are unable to create that?
My ideal study environment is one that isn't too quiet or loud (i.e., a coffee shop or park). If I am unable to create that, I try and limit my distractions and noise by listening to music and setting up a study area in the place I am in (i.e., if I am in the living room, I make sure that I have all my study materials at-hand and my phone is on silent).
