Because the collision is elastic, momentum is conserved, and the ball bounces off the wall at the same angle (and with the same velocity). So the ball is deflected at an angle of 38 degrees.

### Subject: Pre-Calculus

Take the function $$\frac{1}{x+3}$$. Is this function discontinuous? If so, in what way?

The function $$\frac{1}{x+3}$$ has asymptotic discontinuity, because it approaches -- but never reaches -- the point $$x=-3$$.

### Subject: Algebra

$$x^2+4x=0$$. What is $$x$$?

We see that $$x^2$$ and $$4x$$ have something in common: $$x^2$$ is $$x*x$$, and $$4x$$ is $$4*x$$. So we can cross out one $$x$$ from each term. This leaves us with the expression: $$x+4=0$$. Therefore, $$x=-4$$.
