Answer:

A layer mask is something you can add to a layer so you can manage its transparency whenever you need to, especially when you need to "mask" a portion of an image. Now, you need make sure that the layer with the image that you want to blend is placed right on top of the original image that you opened. Select the top layer. Then, click the Add Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers panel so you create a layer mask to the selected layer. You'll notice that the layer mask thumbnail is filled with white background. The reason behind the white thumbnail is because layer masks are grayscale. Going back to the steps, the white areas represent the areas that are 100% visible. You'd want to erase all the unnecessary parts of the image with the added layer mask. To erase the parts, you need to select Brush tool and black as the Foreground color. Once you paint black on the parts you don't need, you'd notice that those portions of the image are erased. Do this repeatedly on the other parts of the image you're working on, and you will get a perfectly blended image along with the orignal image.
