What is important in professional development?
Coaching and mentoring are cornerstones in professional development. As a former Army officer, I provided weekly, dedicated professional development to junior officers through classes and formal training to help them gain specialized experience to enhance their careers. As a seasoned military spouse, I mentored numerous junior spouses in customs and courtesies of the military culture. I hosted monthly social gatherings to increase networking between spouses.
What is my personal approach to tutoring writers?
Personally, I like to use an interrogative approach. It helps the writer to be led to the answer rather than given. In this way, a dialogue is created between writer and tutor. This dialogue can turn into a creative session, thus fueling the writer with more insight. Most importantly, it puts control squarely on the writer's shoulders and builds confidence along the way.
Industrial-Organizational Psychology studies leadership and management. Of the two following leadership styles, transformational or transactional, which leadership style would best benefit an organization desiring change, and why?
Transformational leaders, like the name implies, are about change. They are usually visionaries who are able to conceptualize and develop a big picture to direct the organization. to help attain the goals, transformational leaders excel in team-building and gaining the trust of their members. This is critical when facing change as oftentimes people are resistant to change.
