US History can be applied to not only current events happening on Capitol Hill and within the government, but also to daily events happening within local communities. For example looking back to FDR's implication of Social Security is still very much relevant today in respects to whether Social Security will be able to support the Baby Boomer generation. The impact of Social Security which was a program initiated in 1935 is still relevant in the United States Government and in the homes of Americans today.
