About Benjamin

About Benjamin
Hello! My name is Ben and I'm a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I double majored in Economics and Music and minored in Math and Statistics, earning a 3.97 cumulative GPA. As you can probably tell, I was very academically focused throughout my undergraduate studies. Throughout my time at college, though, I kept being frustrated with how often topics (especially in math, economics, and statistics) were being taught in ways that weren't helpful for me or most of my peers. Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
I worked at the Lindahl Academic center for student athletes at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (where I did my undergrad). In that position, I mentored 1-4 students at a time in entry-level economics and statistics. I have also helped friends and siblings in math courses -- while this was obviously different from a paid position, I learned a lot from those experiences.

Work Experience

Work Experience
Helller-Hurwicz Economics Institute, Undergraduate Research Assistant
2019 - 2020
I worked as a research assistant to Professor Jeremy Lise. In this position I located and analyzed an almost complete history of US minimum and subminimum wage laws, including almost every federal, state, and local law passed since the 1938 Federal Labor Standards Act. Even in its incomplete state, this is one of the most comprehensive databases of US minimum wages in existence.
Lindahl Academic Center, Peer Tutor
2019 - 2019
Tutored multiple groups of students throughout the semester in economics and statistics. Each group had a different learning style, and I was able to adapt to their needs to ensure they understood the material well.
