Answer:

Start with the original equation: 2x+5= x+7 Subtract 5 from both sides -5 -5 2x= x+2 Subtract the x from both sides -x -x Answer: 2=x Plug it back in to see if it makes sense. 2(2) +5 = 2+7 4+5= 9 and 2+7 +9 9=9

Question:

How do you change a fraction into a decimal?

Answer:

You take the numerator and divide it by the denominator for example if you have a fraction 15/8 you would take the 15 and divide it by 8. Then with long division, you would take the 8 and determine how many times it went into 15. You would get a total of 1. You would write a 1 on the top of your long division equation. Then you would take the 1 and multiply it by the 8. 1*8=8. You would then write that under the 15 and subract 8 from 15. 15-8=7. You would then add a decimal to the top of your equation, and bring down a 0 to the 7 to make it 70. 8 goes into 70 8 times as 64 is the closest multiple of 8 that is below 70. the 8 then goes on top after the decimal for a current number of 1.8. After this you would multiply 8*8= 64. Write this number below the 70 and subtract for a number of 6. Bring down another 0 to get 60. 8*8=64 which is greater than 60. 8*7 is 56 which is lower than 60. So now on top we write the 7 and get a current number of 1.87. 7*8= 56. We write this below the 60 and subtract again to get 4. We then bring down another 0 to get 40. 8*5=40, so we write a 5 on top of the equation for a current number of 1.875. 40-40= 0. So our final answer is 1.875
