Question:

What are the different types of essays that I would write as a college student?

Jennifer S.
Answer:

There are three general types of academic essays: expository, persuasive, and research essays. Expository essays ask you to demonstrate knowledge of a topic by explaining ideas and issues related to it. Persuasive/argumentative essays ask you to show your knowledge about both or multiple sides of an argument and take a stance on the given topic based on your knowledge. Research essays ask you to collect and synthesize information about a topic and present a thesis statement that gives a position, theory, or other original outlook on the topic.

Question:

Can I use Wikipedia to do research for my school paper?

Jennifer S.
Answer:

Wikipedia is a source you can use for reference only to do some initial searching on your topic and collect some potential resources from the references section of articles. However, you should never cite Wikipedia as a resource in your paper, and you should not directly copy information from Wikipedia, either.

Answer:

The ancient Greeks associated Athena primarily with the spear, the distaff, and the aegis (a shield made of goatskin that bore the head of Medusa.) She is also associated with the olive tree and the owl, which both represent wisdom.
