How do you tell the difference between imperfetto, passato prossimo e passato remoto?
We have to consider when the action happens and how the action happens. As for the passato prossimo, the action is concluded at a time in the past, not too far from the present. (Ex: Io ho amato quell'uomo.) As for the imperfetto, the action happened at a time in the past, but we do not know whether it ended or not. (Ex: io amavo quell'uomo.) Finally the passato remoto, that speaks of an action of a past far away from the speaker, and refers to a completed action. (Ex: io amai quell'uomo.)

What happened in the literary world after Flaubert's death?
The first new movement is that of Breton. He wrote the ‘first manifesto of Surrealism’. Surrealism was the first advance movement of the 20th century. In this manifesto Breton himself takes a position contrary to the Romanesque realism of Balzac, which was a form of writing that no longer corresponds to the requirements of the 20th century, and he underlines very well the difference between the term réalité, which corresponds to the realism of the 19th century (mimetic process, reproduction of reality as it is outside) and the notion of réel, which corresponds to the novel of the 20th century, who wants to try to grasp something surreal and write it on the page.
