Worked with Dr. Lauren Hamel's team in a collaboration between Wayne State School of Medicine and the Karmanos Cancer Institute. The study was a randomized controlled trial to test the effectiveness of a patient intervention to reduce the financial burden of cancer in a diverse patient population. Designed and executed an experimental approach to understand the interactions between mutant calreticulin (CALR) and thrombopoietin receptor (TPOR) in myeloproliferative neoplasms. Collaborated with a team in creating a series of mutagenesis experiments within the TpoR gene that was assessed for loss-of-function in gene product. Mutations included insertions of either an endoplasmic reticulum retention signal at the TPOR C-terminus or one to four alanine residues in the juxta-membrane domain.
