If consumed on a consistent basis, who is more likely to gain weight; Person A who eats a meal composed of a cheeseburger and 32-ounce soft drink four times per day, or Person B who eats a bowl fruit and an egg white and green pepper omelet four times per day? Why?
The primary reason for one gaining weight is because of the intake of excessive calories, which would be Person A, to a great degree. The individual choosing to eat the cheeseburger and soft drink meal will gain more weight because the cheeseburger is high in saturated and total fat, which is more calorically dense than the carbohydrates in the fruit and protein in the egg whites. Additionally, there are empty calories being consumed by the soft drink, while the other meal contains fiber from the fruit, which provides satiety to keep the person full.
What are two differences between mitosis and meiosis?
There are many differences between mitosis and meiosis, one of which is that mitosis is one single chain of steps (Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase Telophase) and then is followed by Telekinesis, whereas meiosis undergoes mitosis, but instead of going through to Telekinesis, it instead goes to Prophase 2, Metaphase 2, Anaphase 2, Telophase 2, and then Cytokinesis. Another difference is that mitosis begins with one diploid cell and upon completion, there are two diploid cells with identical genetic information. Conversely, meiosis begins as one diploid cell and finishes as four haploid daughter cell, each with half of the genetic material from the beginning cell. So an additional answer could be that there is genetically identical offspring from the parent cell in mitosis, but in meiosis, they are genetically diverse. One final difference is that mitosis occurs in all somatic cells in the body, whereas meiosis only occurs in gametes or sex cells.
