Answer:

66 is how many people were first attending the game. If 12 people had left the game there would now be 54 people attending the game. You would solve this by 66(number of people attending)-12(number of people leaving the game. 66-12=54

Question:

If 2/3 of the number of women attending a dance is equal to 1/2 of the number of men attending, What fraction of those attending are women?

Answer:

To first start off, you would take the number of women at the dance and divide it by all the people attending the dance. 1.) This would be ( W) women M ( Men) W/ (W+M) 2.) In this problem, it states that 2/3 of the Women ( W ) are equal to 1/2 of the number of Men (M) attending. This states 2/3W=1/2M 3.) We now need two equations to solve for the two variables, however, we only have one equation Seeing that we need two equations to solve for two variables we now multiply each side by 2 4/3W=M 4.) Now the last step is plugging it into our first equation in step one. W/(W+M) 2/3/(2/3+1/2) W / (W+M) W / (W + 4⁄3W) W / (7⁄3W) After simplifying the fraction you now get the answer of 3/7 3/7 of those are women attending
