Pre-Algebra is pointless, right?
Of course it is...NOT! Just in case you thought I would say yes, I will explain my answer. Yes, you will use this information again. Yes, you probably already have a very good foundation in place to succeed in Pre-Algebra. My daughter has a learning disability, and she is thriving with this subject. YOU CAN DO THIS! It is a requirement, and it is a necessary foundation for future high school algebra courses. I have years of experience making comparisons and using memory techniques that will stick with you for life. One day, you will sit with your own children or nieces and nephews, and you will be able to give them the skills you learned in Pre-Algebra. Word problems, problem solving, and equations are VERY RELATABLE in every day situations. You will learn to make analogies and look to solve the UNKNOWN! Let's get started today!
Subject: English as a Second Language
How can you help me to quickly and effectively communicate with English speakers?
Language learning is a passion of mine. I have taught English to students of many other native languages. In recent years, I have become consumed with learning Spanish. I absolutely love the passion and reasons that students want to learn English as a second or third language. I am able to be clearly understood by students, and I also have the ability to break down the complexity of the English sounds. I have tools in place to help students learn quickly and gain confidence with speaking English. Learning should be fun, not stressful and scary. I will help students to relax and to retain more information.
How can my English skills help me in my future endeavors?
A passion for learning will fuel all areas of your life. For many years, I had high school students who argued, "I don't need this English class. I can look it up." As technology increases, and texting instead of talking has become a norm, it is imperative that we hold on to the basic skills of reading and writing. A good understanding of grammar and spelling are skills that will give you a competitive edge. If one has learned another language first, learning English can mean the difference of an increase in pay and more opportunity. Language connects us to people and places, and it will always be a valued skill to employers.
