Question:

How does writing differ from other subjects?

Sara B.
Answer:

There's something very personal and eye-opening about finding your voice as a writer. Everything you do, everything you create, contains a piece of yourself that you give to the world. Whether it's through poetry, stories, or music. The act of writing, pen to paper, forces your mind to slow down. Each syllable is thought out, and when it's done well, creates something as vivid or grotesque as intended by the author. It can elicit emotions, create worlds, change minds. It is the oldest technology and the closest thing to magic that society has ever done. There are no wrong answers in writing, there's only an infinite number of questions to explore. It is unlike anything, and I think that makes it a truly wonderful thing to love.

Question:

Why do people love stories?

Sara B.
Answer:

Everyone has a story. Regardless of sex, ethnicity, or experience, everyone has lived a life that is their own. Humans are social creatures, and we long to learn. That's why stories are so popular. Once passed down from generation to generation, now written and published for millions to see. Intricate themes, symbols, and characters are all attributes of a good story. No matter how literal or meta it gets, there is an emotional attachment, a sense of reassurance that comes from hearing or reading something that relates to yourself. But it is in the differences where we draw our conclusions, for it is only through comparison that we can assign meaning.

Why is language considered to be one of the cornerstones of civilization?

Sara B.
Answer:

Language, particularly written language, has allowed humanity to find new ways to progress for thousands of years. Society has flourished only through communication and is constantly finding new and brilliant ways to enhance learning. It is the foundation of understanding and the backbone of our species.
