What kind of skills do you think are important to develop as a professional?
While it is important to develop practical skills, those only come secondary to the soft skills that will be applicable in any job situation. Having strong communication skills are crucial, including the ability to discuss difficult topics and self-advocacy. Communication will help develop teamwork skills and interpersonal skills as well. Assertiveness and recognizing when to utilize it versus when to step back also will help in terms of establishing yourself as a strong employee.

What do you consider a successful reference interview?
A successful reference interview doesn't always result in finding the information requested, but rather ends up as a positive experience for the student. Librarian's must be approachable and willing to help with a variety of informational requests, even if they themselves are unfamiliar with the topic to be researched.
Why do you think literature is such an important subject?
Literature is a multi-faceted subject where people can derive a multitude of meanings and experiences. Storytelling is one of the world's oldest art forms, and in today's world it is imperative for people to learn how to read and how to analyze what they're reading. It is a skill that can be used in both personal and professional situations.
