Subject: Library and Information Science
Why do academic libraries use the Library of Congress classification system instead of Dewey Decimal?
The Dewey Decimal system only has 10 classification categories whereas Library of Congress has 21 classification categories. More categories makes it easier to support larger collections like you would find at a university.
