Why do academic libraries use the Library of Congress classification system instead of Dewey Decimal?
The Dewey Decimal system only has 10 classification categories whereas Library of Congress has 21 classification categories. More categories makes it easier to support larger collections like you would find at a university.
What is the difference between searching in a database and searching using a discovery system?
A discovery system often searches multiple databases at the same time. Searching within a database, especially a subject-specific database, can generate more targeted results without having to filter out a lot of irrelevant sources.
