Why is writing important for students?

Answer:

First, writing improves overall communication skills that help people in everyday life and in their careers. Writing furthermore boosts creativity and imagination. It is important in academics, simply because it allows students to develop and demonstrate their communication and knowledge. Most importantly from my perspective as a professor is that writing boosts students' confidence, which I saw numerous times over 25 years.

Answer:

Not only does quality literature provide examples of well written pieces and thus teach higher writing skills and techniques as well as improves communication. Most literature deals with human life on many different levels and can therefore teach readers about themselves and others. Furthermore, much literature educates and informs readers about the past--history--and other cultures, past and present. Finally, literature entertains readers.

Answer:

Grammar and correctness (syntax, subject-verb agreement, spelling, for some) are important, because every written message needs to be clearly understood to the reader to avoid misinterpretations, confusion, or frustration, among other issues.
