Both Lola Levine is Not Mean and Wonder have the theme of friendship. In Lola Levine is Not Mean Lola is bullied and isolated, throughout the novel she learns how to be friends with her classmates and get along better with everyone by being less competitive. In Wonder, Auggie is picked on because of how he looks, however, through being friends with Jack and the conflict with the boys from the other school on the class trip Auggie is accepted in his school. Jack and Auggie have conflict in their friendship which illustrates how to be a good friend and the importance of friendship.

I will provide access to grade level content for striving readers in many ways. One way is through read aloud. Students' listening comprehension is stronger than when they have to decode because the cognitive load is less so they can practice comprehension and thinking skills with more complex texts when it is read aloud. Students may use assistive technology tools like text to speech to access text. I may also utilize partner reading and pair students with a more capable partner to help them access the text and develop their reading fluency,
