First, we need to realize that there is some extra information that we do not need. It is not important that it holds 12 ounces of cereal, we just need to know the volume. To find volume we need to multiply the area of the base by the height. So for the original box that would be (6 x 2) x 10 and that equals 120 cubic inches. So for the new box, we need a volume of 120 cubic inches. What is know is the base and we are missing the height so we have the equation 120 = (3 x 5) x h = 15 x h. To get h by itself we need to divide by 15 so, 120/15 = h. So the height needs to be 8 inches for the boxes to hold the same amount of cereal.
Evaluate the expression: 15 - 3(2 +1)
The answer is 6. By using the order of operations, we do what is in the parentheses first. So, 2 + 1 = 3. Then we would multiply 3 x 3 and get 9. Now we can just subtract 15 - 9 and get 6.
What is Title IX and what did it do?
Title IX is essentially an education act that says there has to be an equal number of boy and girl sports allowed in schools from primary to college level. It also allows students to not be discriminated because of their gender. This act was added in 1972 during a time where there were many changes going on in education with segregation. While it is mainly seen as an athletic act, it also applies to all aspects of education including courses and student health.
