Tutor profile: Alex D.
What qualifies you to tutor SAT material?
I did much preparation and studying for the SAT and was able to improve my score drastically, and by the end, I was consistently scoring between 2300-2400 on practice exams, with my final score being a 2330. I believe because I had to work my way up, I can relay my learning tips and experiences as I tutor students and help them develop their skills in regards to the SAT.
Subject: Software Engineering
What specializations in software engineering do you have and what would you teach?
I received a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I studied computer science in high school as well and have developed software in my personal time. I have much experience with Java, Python, C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, and Git, but would specialize in teaching early career software engineers or high school students how to excel in a career of software engineering. I worked at Boeing and Microsoft and have interviewed or received interview offers with companies such as Apple and Google as well.
Subject: College Admissions
What experiences would qualify me as a good college admissions tutor?
I went through a rigorous college admissions cycle for my undergraduate degree and was able to gain admissions to every UC school and most with scholarship. I can advise students on extracurriculars, academics, and other facets of their application that would help them excel in admissions. I additionally have recently applied for graduate school and had to take another standardized entrance exam, so I am very well versed in elements such as resume building, test taking, and personal statement writing.
