Question:

How can I add more details to my persuasive writing paper?

Hana A.
Answer:

When writing a persuasive paper, you are trying to convince others why your side is ultimately the right side! Start brainstorming by answering all the W questions: Who, What, Why, & Where. Once you answer these questions you will be able to expand on your thoughts and start to focus on your main points or reasons. You want to make sure that each point has evidence to support your stance, from there you will have opportunities to expand on your ideas and be able to add more information and details. Similar to creative writing you want to paint a picture for your audience and keep them engaged.

Question:

How can I become a more fluent English speaker?

Hana A.
Answer:

While it can be very nerve racking to start speaking with your teachers and peers, a great way to practice is to utilize social networking apps you probably already use. You can create a private story on an app you use the most, this way you are the only person who can view the actual video! Start off by talking about your day, try to use what you are learning in the classroom in your speech. It is a great way to reflect on your learning and over time you will become more confident!

Question:

How can I determine the theme of the story I am reading?

Hana A.
Answer:

First understand that the theme of a story is the overall main idea. If you could only chose one main idea, what would that be? Focus on the main character, what lesson did they learn? You can also look at how the main character solved their problem. For Example if the main character was very rude to all his classmates and always ended up alone during recess, but realized once he changed his behavior he could easily make friends. The theme of this story could be to always be kind.
