Explain what latitude and longitude are. What would be the most significant and well known example for each?
Latitude and Longitude are the main units in the geographic coordinate system that most of the world uses to locate specific areas on the planet. Latitude lines are parallel lines that circle around the world running east and west. The most significant latitude line is the equator. It separates the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Longitude lines are a series of lines that run north and south and intersect at the north and south poles. The most significant longitude line is the Prime Meridian.
Over the course of history humans have settled near bodies of water or waterways. Give and explain some reasons why humans have settled this way.
Humans physically need to drink water to survive. It is much easier to settle near a constant source of drinking water. It also helps provide a consistent source of water for crop irrigation. Water allows for better defense of a settlement due to its greater inaccessibility.
List the 6 noble gases and explain what makes them so unique.
The noble gases are helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon. These gases make up group 18 of the periodic table. They are colorless and odorless as well as very unreactive. Their properties are all very similar to each other including their melting points and boiling points.
